Marketing Ideas
Yellow Pages Listing
Some say this is a must to build a business. Large ads are very expensive so weigh this choice carefully. If your listing is at the beginning of the alphabet, you'll enjoy a bit of a boost.
Internet
This is what we use to boost our profits 10-Fold. The "Net" is growing everyday with the boom starting all over again. Take a look here.
Turn 100 visitors a Day into $3500.00 per day in profits. Get the inside scoop on a site that's making over $1,277,500 a year in profits ($3,500 a day) -- with only 100 visitors per day, selling a product that costs less than $150!
Classified Ads
Placing classified ads is a proven method to attract business. They may be expensive in the daily paper, but the smaller papers and freebies are good sources to use.
Canvassing
Visit prospective customers in person. This is time consuming, but inexpensive and effective.
Personal Letters
Write personalized letters (not form letters) to each prospect. This allows you to ad a personal note or salutation to each letter.
Telephone Calls
You can contact more people by telephone than by canvassing, but it is easier for the prospect to say no. Keep a list of possibilities to contact in person.
Distribute Circulars
Have a single sheet flyer printed and distribute them profusely. This takes some leg work, but is very low cost.
Signs
If you city permits using signs at your residence, do so. Put them on your vehicle, too.
Direct Mail
If you need to reach a large market, there won't be time to do a personal letter for each prospect. Be careful when choosing your list. Poor lists will just waste your money.
Radio Advertising
This can be surprisingly inexpensive. Though you will need to buy several spots, you can reach a very large audience. And, radio stations have detailed demographics on listeners so you will know if you can reach your target market before spending.
Billboard Advertising
Use billboards as a reminder to customers that you exist. This type of promotion works best when combined with other marketing methods.
Public Relations
Having a news story in local (or national) media is the perfect marketing promotion. It won't cost you any cash and it will prove credibility to the readers. The downside is that it is a one-time shot and you have little control over the content.
Advertising Specialties
If nothing else, these things create some good will. People like receiving things for free and if you have a pen, calendar, or other item you are giving away then maybe you'll get a customer or two.
Sponsor Events
This doesn't have to be a big event, because even small affairs will get your name out to people.
Free Seminars and Demonstrations
This will show prospective customers that you are an expert in your field.
Sampling
You can use sampling with your free demonstrations or as a stand-alone method. Again, people love to get something for free and at the same time they can try your product before they buy.
Exhibit at Trade Shows
These can be expensive to enter, but the exposure is worth the cost. Your business will be exposed to all the right people in a short time. Be sure to have brochures, catalogs, or other materials to hand out.
Word of Mouth Advertising
Your current customers are your best source of advertising. Make sure to ask them for referrals, because they may not know you are looking for more business.
Skywriting
This doesn't happen often, so it's very memorable.
Bus and Taxi Signs
You can have your ad all over town, without leaving home.
Ads on Benches
Give the people at the bus stop something to read.
T-Shirt Advertising
Have t-shirts printed and wear them yourself or donate shirts to a little league team or bowling team.
