Ron Gielgun has written an excellent beginner’s guide to starting a business on the internet. Free from technical jargon, this book is for anyone who wants to start a home based business online.
The first section of the book contains solid information about the basics of an online business. He dispels some of the myths about doing business online and has included an overview of the types of businesses that do well.
You will be walked through setting up a business online, step-by-step. Topics include choosing an ISP, choosing a host, creating your web page, and naming your domain. An entire chapter is devoted to advertising and promotion, including both online and offline avenues.
The 121 Businesses are the meat of this book. For each idea, Gielgun has included a brief description, sources of revenue you can persue as well as ideas for additional revenue, warnings of possible problems you may encounter, and a link to a web page engaged in the described business.
The descriptions are not comprehensive but will provide a great starting point. This book will show you what types of businesses are being conducted successfully online and will serve as an idea generator. Almost anyone will find a business they can start in the pages of this book.
