Getting the Right Fit
If you are a fan of online message boards, you will see posts intended to instruct you on how to choose a business. It is not difficult to determine that the business opportunity that these people are involved with have all the good qualities they say you must find in a business. What these posts do not tell you is that business opportunities are not a good fit for most people.
Business opportunities are like one-size-fits-all clothing. These items only fit a few people. For most of us the fit of these garments is tolerable, but not great. That is true for business opportunities as well. They fit some people, but for the majority the fit is just tolerable.
Everything about the business needs to fit: the product or service, the compensation, and the marketing plan. If one area chafes a little, then you do not have good fit. Each aspect is an integral part of the whole. It all must work together to make a garment that fits. If it does not fit comfortably, you will not wear it and if you do not wear it, you will not succeed.
Because of the fitting problem you will encounter with business opportunities, you will really need to do your homework to find one that does fit. And, maybe none of them will fit well. If this is the case, then take what you have learned from all of these business opportunities and create your own opportunity.
Your research into business opportunities will provide you with some useful resources. Create the perfect fit by mixing and matching the pieces of these opportunities. Undoubtedly, you will find a product or service that is exciting and, maybe, a marketing plan that is perfect for you. Use any combination of ideas from your research that feels right when you try it on. You will not have a ready-made business, but you can create a tailor-made business that is just right for you.
Being unsuccessful with a business opportunity does not mean that you are a failure. It means that you did not have something that fit well. Keep trying things on for size.
